Justification of the proposal

The project address to the following main needs: the need to improve the environmental protection, by environmental monitoring and control; the necessity to improve the teaching and the training activities in the above mentioned field; the need to align to European standards, the teaching and training methods from Romania.

The project envisages to reach the following goals: the development and implementation, in a transnational context, of a common and flexible training module in the field of the project, to allow for the mutual recognition of qualifications and skills acquired; combating exclusion in the management of the different bodies, organisms, SMEs and local authorities dedicated to the above mentioned field; the development of work-linked training methods based on the cooperation between universities, research institutes, specialized bodies and associated enterprises.

The project is related to priority 1 (Employability) and intends to develop advanced training materials and teaching methodologies for preparing specialists in the field of the project. The innovations will be : creation of an integrated European training module, a database in the field of the project ; introduction of modern tools for ODL by using especially the Internet resources, etc.

Results and impact

It will be elaborated a modern complex structure, based on:

  • a printed curricula, a textbook, and a laboratory guide;
  • a CD-ROM containing the elaborated teaching materials;
  • one database regarding the job opportunities and enterprises, organizations and bodies interested in the field of the project;
  • three simulation programs for environmental monitoring and control;
  • a Web page dedicated to the project;
  • two training modules, that will be implemented in Sweden and in Romania.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of a large category of specialists in the field, and to the diminution of the unemployment. The main beneficiaries of the project will be at least 500 persons in each partner country (young graduated students, people with qualification not needed, trainers, etc.), local, regional and governmental authorities and enterprises. Dissemination of the results will be achieved by: the published teaching materials, the Web page of the project, advertisement of the teaching modules and of the project, workshops in each partner country, etc.


The established partnership corresponds to the European dimension and the multiplier character required by the Leonardo da Vinci Programme. The partners are putting together their experience and expertise, combining different points of view and contributions, as they are from different institutional contexts, namely: five universities, an enterprise, three research institutes, a training organization and a human resources center. The partnership assures a certain balance between East and West European countries and the project results will be used by all the ten partners and interested organizations from Europe.

Project management

As the tasks and activities considered in the project require a high level of competence, a powerful consortium is to be put into operation, which will co-operate to accomplish the following work plane:

  1. Conception
  2. Training material preparation, evaluation and publication
  3. Teaching modules
  4. Results dissemination

University of Bucharest will do the project management to accomplish the above mentioned work plan.
